A new species of freshwater prawn Macrobrachium bullatum sp.n. is described from the Alligator Rivers region of Northern Territory, Australia. The cutting edges of fingers of chelipeds (pereiopod 2) have rows of six opposing, equally spaced, large horny tubercles, interspersed between rows of stiff hairs. A key to Australian species of the genus Macrobrachium is also given.
