Spermiogenesis in Eptatretus stoutii, E. deani and E. sp. display great similarities. Minor differences appear in the acrosomal structure. The spermatozoan has a long middle piece in which the axonema is surrounded by a sheath, consisting of a very few mitochondria, a feature usually associated with internal fertilization.
