Immature (malignant) teratomas of the ovary without combination chemotherapy are highly fatal neoplasms. Within the last decade postoperative adjuvant combination chemotherapy has been shown to be highly effective and produced long term survival in patients with these tumours. The efficacy of a regimen containing vincristine, acti‐nomycin D and cyclophosphamide is reported with several patients alive free of disease at 5 to 10 years. The factors influencing prognosis, duration of therapy and role of second‐look laparotomy in immature teratomas are discussed.
