A Chinese woman with herpes gestationis is reported Because of the unusual features, the diagnosis was not made until the last trimester. A healthy 3.1 kg baby was delivered at term and there was no postpartum relapse. The various reported incidence of this condition may be related to mild and atypical forms which have been un‐diagnosed. The importance of immunofluorescence staining in skin biopsy is stressed, and the significance of the diagnosis is discussed with a review of the literature.
