Following a quick vaginal delivery of a preterm infant, the placenta was delivered with some difficulty. A globular mass approximately 10 cm in diameter was seen attached to the maternal surface of the placenta by large veins. Histology revealed it to be a large chorioangioma. This tumour was asymptomatic and there were no maternal or fetal complications.
