The endometrial washings from 50 women in the high risk group were obtained by the Gravlee jet washer. Specimens were examined cytologically and by the cell block technique. Confirmatory procedures as D & C or hysterectomy were done in 39 cases. The procedure was successful in all cases but insufficient specimens for diagnosis were encountered in 18% of the cases. Gravlee jet washing specimens studied by the cell block technique proved to be a valuable procedure for the detection of endometrial lesions. It is only when the washings are unsatisfactory that further confirmatory evidence is indicated.
