In 1981, a stud‐ of infertilit‐ rates was carried on b‐ interviewing a total of 2087 women between 15–48 ‐ears old in Bangkok (636) and four rural areas in the North (354), North East (538), Central (387) and South (172). The rate of primar‐ infertilit‐ in all areas was ver‐ low (2%) and constant. The prevalence of secondar‐ infertilit‐ rose sharpl‐ from 3–4% in their twenties to at least 25% in those age 40 or over. The majorit‐ of these women, however, expressed no desire for further children as the‐ alread‐ had enough children. The rate of secondar‐ infertilit‐ was lowest in the North East (5.2%), highest in the South (18.6). Similar secondar‐ infertilit‐ rates were found in Bangkok (7.1%), Central (7.2%) and the North (9.6%).
