In the past 15 years, 55 patients with recurrent or advanced cervical cancer underwent pelvic exenteration. Two of them had vaginal reconstruction with a sigmoid loop concomitantly performed at the time of surgery. This procedure is particularly advantageous as: (1) it is possible to fill up the pelvic cavity denuded by the exenteration to prevent intestinal herniation, (2) it restores the vaginal function, (3) it makes the pelvic examination possible following total exenteration in which the anus and vagina in the past were almost always excised and obliterated.
