A survey was made of the therapeutic methods used in Japan for carcinomas of the corpus uteri and their correlation with classifications of clinical stage. In Japan surgical therapy is now the principal treatment for cancers of the corpus uteri in Stages I, II or III. Significant individual differences were found among the surveyed clinics with regard to surgical techniques in Stage I cases. The precise nature of these differences was investigated by subdividing Stage I cases according to length of uterine cavity and histological grade. Stage II lesions are most commonly treated with radical hysterectomy with lymphadenectomy; primary lesions in Stage III cases are also excised. In both Stage II and Stage III cases, postoperative radiation or chemotherapy is also normally undertaken.
