Summary A six year review of the 3 major hospitals is carried out to identify the risk factors associated with management of breech presentation. There were 1200 singleton breech presentations at delivery irrespective of gestation out of 63,611 total deliveries. The incidence of breech presentation was therefore 1 in 53 or 1.9 per cent. The crude perinatal mortality was 246 per 1000. And this represented 11.3% of the institutional perinatal mortality. The risk factors identified included the institution during delivery, the attendant and mode of delivery and the fetal weight. The best perinatal outcome was in those delivered by Caesarean section. We have advocated more liberal use of Caesarean section.
