The antenatal care, obstetric and neonatal outcome of teenage pregnancies delivered at the Mater Mothers' Public Hospital from 1973 to 1979 were reviewed. When compared with mothers aged 20–25 years during the same period, there was a higher incidence of pre‐eclampsia and prematurity, especially in the teenagers aged 16 or less. Antenatal attendance was of poorer standard. There was no difference in the obstetric performance and neonatal outcome when primiparous patients with mature babies were compared.
