Summary A high‐performance liquid chromatographic method is described for the measurement and identification of eight steroids possessing the Δ 4 ‐3 ketonic compounds in human specimens. The eight steroids (Cortisone, Cortisol, Corticosterone, DOC, Δ 4 ‐Androstendione, Testosterone, 17‐Hydroxyprogesterone and Progesterone) were separated with a methanol‐THF‐water system on an IRICA RP‐18 column. Effluents were detected by UV absorption at 245 nm. Quantitative analysis was performed by measurement of peak heights, which were proportional to the amount of each substance. This method is rapid, highly sensitive, easy to perform and reproducible.
