A report of the double‐blind study of the effects of oral methyl ergometrine maleate (Methergin) on bleeding post JUD insertion. The result of 38 cases receiving the Methergin and 46 cases receiving placebo tablets were compared. In general the use of methergin does not have any significant effect on the intensity or duration of bleeding or pain. However in case of heavy bleeding after insertion, the intensity and duration of bleeding may be reduced by this medication.
