Korea is becoming an aging society with the aging population currently at 7% of the population at July 2001. It is predicted that the percentage of the aged in 25 years will rise from 7% to 14% (this is even faster than that of Japan). Traditionally, the aged of Korea were supported by their family and the neighbors, but they can’t be supported in this way any longer. The aging of Korea have changed and their residential problems are becoming more serious. In relation to the quality and function of welfare facilities, as well as for residential problems, it is necessary to improve functional facilities such as the home rather than hospitals. In this paper, we propose improvements of residential welfare for the aged of Korea faced with rapid aging society.
