A 29 year old homosexual male presented with acute renal failure caused by acute myeloma. Subsequent investigation demonstrated antibody to the AIDS‐associated virus human T‐cell lymphotropic virus III, (HTLV‐III/LAV/ARV). The association between lymphadenopathy syndrome and multiple myeloma is discussed.
