There have been numerous suggestive but inconclusive reports of a possible infectious etiology for Hodgkin's disease. The discovery of the causative agent of the adult T cell leukemia‐lymphoma syndrome suggests that a similar agent to the human T cell leukemia‐lymphoma virus may have a causal role in Hodgkin's disease.
