Absence of PAS‐positive macrophages In hepatic and lymph node granulomata in Whipple's disease. P. J. Torzillo, L. Bignold and G. A. Khan, Aust. N.Z. J. Med., 1982, 12, pp. 73–75. A patient with Whipple's disease presented with hepatic and lymph node granulomata which contained no PAS‐positive macrophages but which disappeared after penicillin treatment. The absence of PAS‐positive staining in the macrophages of hepatic granulomata in Whipple's disease has not previously been reported but does not negate the diagnosis.
