Summary: Dermal necrosis following coumarin: Is it immunologically induced? I. G. Hislop, P. J. Zilko, M. Petersen and N. Ahmed, Aust. N.Z. J. Med ., 1980, 10 , pp. 51–53. Two patients with dermal necrosis due to anticoagulation therapy with warfarin are reported. Both patients demonstrated some disturbance in immunological function. It appears possible that warfarin may act as a happen in the induction of hypersensitivity to the drug. It is recommended that future cases should be studied to determine whether there is a defect in immunoregulation, and whether circulating immune complexes are responsible for the typical skin lesions.
