Summary: Aspects of the use of lithium for the non‐psychiatrist. W. O. Williams and A. Z. Györy Lithium carbonate is commonly used in psychiatry, particularly in the management of the manic‐depressive syndrome. It is also being increasingly tried in a variety of physical disorders. This essentially practical article summarizes important non‐psychiatric aspects of the use of the drug, including its less common actions.
