Summary: The case is reported of a girl aged five years who presented with a calcified lesion at the cardiac apex. She was observed for nine years, after which an intramural fibroma was successfully excised. The pathogenesis of these lesions is discussed. Many features suggest they are malformations rather than neoplasms.
