Summary: Stools from 108 cases of bronchial asthma and 300 controls were examined for presence of Ascaris , hook‐worm and Strongyloides infections. Ascaris and hookworm infections were slightly more common in the asthmatic group while Strongyloides infection was slightly more common in the control group; these differences were not significant ( p > 0.05). Our findings show that in Singapore (a tropical city) Ascaris hookworm and Strongyloides infection are endemic and these infections are not significantly more common in cases of asthma. It is concluded that there is no correlation in the tropics between the presence of helminthic infections and bronchial asthma.
