Summary: This report describes a patient with gastric mucosal hypertrophy in whom gastric acid secretion and protein loss from the stomach were both increased. Hypo‐albuminaemia led to incapacitating oedema. Oral anticholinergic drug therapy (propantheline bromide) was given in an attempt to reduce gastric protein loss. However, this did not influence the protein loss. Surgical removal of the stomach would appear to be the best method currently available for treatment of this disease.
