Early debridement of deep dermal or full thickness burns to the dorsum of the hand is recommended as a means of promoting early healing and mobilization, and therefore less residual disability. The results of treatment of 27 patients with deep hand burns are reviewed and some illustrative examples are discussed. A plan of management for these injuries is presented.
