Adenocarcinoma of the appendix commonly presents as oppendicitis and in many instances is not rccognized macroscopically by either the surgeon or the pathologist Improved prognosis has been shown to follow right hemicolectomy in preference to simple appendicectomy. Histological section of all appendices removed from patients in the susceptible age‐qroup is therefore mandatory.
