The incidence and ætiology of hepatoma in Papua New Guinea are discussed. A review has been made of 43 cases of hepatoma diagnosed at the Port Moresby General Hospital between 1960 and 1970 and of 24 cases diagnosed in 1970 and 1971. The surgery of hepatoma is discussed. One case is reported in which left hemihepatectomy for hepatoma was performed on a cirrhotic liver. A second case is reported in which an extended right hepatectomy was carried out.
