Angiomyolipoma is a benign tumour of the kidney, associated in most instances with tuberous sclerosis. On occasions, no stigmata of tuberous sclerosis can be detected, and this group of angiomyolipomas has certain distinguishing features which are discussed with a review of the literature. A rather unusual case is reported, and a plea is made for conservatism in the surgery of these tumours .
