Pentazocine, in dosage of 0°5 mg per kilogram of body weight, has been compared with morphine (0°2 nig/kg) for premedication in children undergoing adenotonsillectomy. The parameters measured were the presence or absence of apprehension, the incidence of postoperative vomiting, the postoperative analgesic requirements and the time that elapsed from prenzedication to the postoperative injection. It is concluded that pentazocine compares favourably with morphine in these doses as a prenzedication and nnalgcsic for children .
