Three cases of short strictures of the intrathoracic trachea following tracheostomy are presented. All were treated by annular resection and primary end‐to‐end anastomosis without adjuvant corticosteroids or concomitant tracheostomy. All are alive and well from one to three years after operation. We are encouraged to recommend bolder use of this method for tight stenosis of the trachea, particularly in the intrathoracic region. The place of dilatation and plastic reconstructional procedures in treatment is briefly discussed.
