Summary A technique using ileal explants has been applied to the investigation of the fate of skin homotransplants in the ileal submucosa of the dog. The results indicate that the ileal submucosa is not a “privileged” recipient site. The preponderance of polymorphonuclear leucocytes in the cellular infiltrate associated with rejection is noted.
