Summary The dog's common bile duct was subjected to various injuries and shown to be relatively immune from severe stricture formation after simple crushing or simple incisional injuries. The construction of a pancreatico‐biliary common channel, however, with similar trauma commonly caused severe strictures. The likelihood that pancreatic juice is responsible for this difference and the literature relevant to this subject are discussed.
