Summary Retrocaval ureter is due to an abnormality in development of the inferior vena cava. The incidence has been estimated at one in 1,000 but the number of documented cases in the world literature is still far from high. This paper gives a follow up on the case published in 1949 by Anderson and Hynes in which they described their plastic operation on the pelvi‐ureteric junction. Two further cases are reported, both treated in a similar fashion together with 2 other asymptomatic cases. The methods of diagnosis are reviewed together with treatment.
