S ummary 1. Two patients with rupture of the diaphragm due to non‐penetrating trauma have beendescribed. 2. In the first patient there was displacement of the liver in toto into the chest, the problem being complicated by fat embolism. 3. The second patient developed a delayed rupture of the left hemidiaphragm with the complications of renal failure, delirium tremens and severe bronchopneumonia. Both patients suffered fractures of the tibia and fibula.
