S ummary 1. An accurate and convenient method of recording intrarectal pressure has been described. 2. By this method the effect of extrinsic factors on intrarectal pressure has been studied in five normal male subjects. 3. The mechanisms by which physical activities influence intrarectal pressure have been investigated. 4. Surgical significance of the results is suggested.
