Summary1 Indications are formulated for the use of a visceral transplant in the oesophageal construction necessary in cases of oesophageal atresia. 2 It is suggested that colon is the viscus most suitable for this purpose and that it should be placed intrapleurally along the posterior mediastinum. 3 A case of oesophageal atresia is reported in which a new oesophagus was built using transverse colon as such a transplant.
