Summary The results of sixty‐one cases of hiatus hernia have been presented. All have been treated surgically by a transthoracic approach. One post‐operative death is recorded due to a massive pulmonary embolus. It is considered that repair of hiatus hernia is a very satisfactory operation and is justified by results and very few recurrences.
