Summary 1. A case of megaoesophagus is described. 2. The first point of interest is the large size of the oesophagus, reaching the lateral chest wall. 3. The second point is the influenza‐like febrile attacks caused by it. 4. The third point is its treatment by oesophago‐gastrectomy, after instrumental dilatation and Heller's operation had failed. Results are reported nearly four years later.
