S ummary .A review of thirty eases of cerebral abscess is made. The high mortality is noted. A few suggestions for the improvement of diagnosis and treatment are offered. A plea is entered for close cooperation between the general and special branches of the profession so that a chance of recovery may not be withheld from those who would otherwise die. The fully developed intracranial abscess presents a problem requiring the diagnostic and therapeutic armamentarium of the neurosurgical service.
