Summary A case of carcinoma of the thoracic œsophagus, on which œsophagectomy by the transpleural method had been performed, is described. An antethoracic œsophagoplasty had been almost completed when the patient died of pneumonia. At post mortem examination a small subpleural nodule on the right side was found, but otherwise no metastases were found.
