Summary It is suggested that endocrine imbalance cannot be dismissed as an aetiological factor in osteocholz &itis deformans juvenilis. Trauma, although not a true stiological factor, will produce and aggravate deformity during the acute stage. Treatment in the present stage of our knowledge consists mainly in providing adequate protection from strain until X ray evidence shows the affected bone capable of performing normal function. Two cases are quoted which appear to bear out the above suggestions.
