In order to verify the actual condition of endoscopic treatment of colorectal stenosis in Japan, 16 institutions participating in the Endoscopy Forum Japan participated in a survey with questionnaires concerning the number of stenting cases, the number of ballooning cases, the number of transanal ileus‐tube insertion cases, the technical success rate, and complications, and so on. Treatment with a stent was conducted in 31.2% of the institutions for malignant lesions and in 25.0% of the institutions for benign lesions. Ballooning was conducted in 12.5% of the institutions for malignant lesions and in 62.5% of the institutions for benign lesions. Transanal ileus‐tube insertion was conducted in 81.1% of the institutions for malignant lesions and in 18.7% of the institutions for benign lesions. The therapeutic success rate was excellent with each therapeutic technique and reached 86–100%. Complications included perforation and bleeding.
