Own experience with laparoscopic cholecystectomy is discussed. Indications, contraindications or laparoscopic cholecystectomy are reviewed. Surgery techniques used are presented in detail. The study of our first 500 patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy lead to the conclusion that if a meticulous and standardized technique is used no major complications are encountered and results are improved in comparison to prior experience with open cholecystectomy.
