Accurate image analysis is essential for correct diagnosis in gastrointestinal endoscopy. In the past, the process of diagnosis has varied based merely on the personal experience of the examiner, and yet there has been no basic study concerning its improvement. We conducted a basic study on endoscopic image analysis particularly with regard to eye fixation points, and noticed that there was a significant difference between beginners and experts. The beginners tended to fix their eyes on the area showing a larger color tone difference, whereas the experts tended to have their fixation points on areas with less of a color tone difference
