The surgeons who served the Sydney Eye Hospital during its first century were a well‐trained and dedicated group of consultants, who created a fine institution with a sphere of influence which has extended beyond Australia to other Asian‐Pacific countries. A description is given of the characteristics and personal qualities of the surgeons, with many of whom the author has been personally acquainted.
