A bstract A study is presented which shows that neither pterygium nor pinguecula develops on an eye with poor visual acuity. It also shows that an active pterygium undergoes regression on an eye which has suffered deterioration of visual acuity. A review of the literature has failed to reveal any reference to this subject.
