S ummary The clinical features of retinal detachments associated with detachment of the pars ciliaris retinae in phakic eyes are described with reference to a series of seven cases. A mechanism for the detachment of the pars ciliaris retinae is suggested. Attention is drawn to a potential problem in the surgical management of these cases.
