WHO defines health as ‘not merely the absence of disease but the integration of physical, emotional and social well‐being and harmony’. A holistic well‐being state of peace can be considered as the true meaning of health. According to current trends in nursing, special attention will be given to the principles of evidence‐based practice, with examples provided on empirical research studies of spiritual concepts, in order to illustrate the need for and importance of holistic care that also includes spiritual care.
