Human apotransferrin increased the bactericidal capacity of human polymorphonuclear leukocytes against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus in the presence of a 1/20 dilution of human serum (final concentration of 2%). The increase of the killing rate depended on the apotransferrin dosage. (Acta Paediatr. 23(2): 214–216, 1981)
