Techniques and apparatus that can be used to rear bees of the Australian genus Exoneura Smith in artificial nests are described. The techniques allow behavioural observation and experimental manipulation of colonies kept in open areas such as reserves and gardens as well as in laboratory cages. They also enable breeding experiments and manipulation of specific environmental factors, and can be extended for use with other allodapine genera.
