Cellulose acetate horizontal gel electrophoresis of two strains of the aphid parasitoid Aphelinus varipes was used to determine if mating incompatibilities between the strains was diagnostic of genetic differentiation. Resolution of seven presumptive enzyme loci revealed only one individual variant, providing no evidence that the two strains are not conspecific.
