Periscelis (Notioscelis) fasciata subgen. et sp.n., from New South Wales and Queensland, is the first species of Periscelidinae to be described from Australian specimens. Family, subfamily, generic and subgeneric diagnoses and a key to subgenera of Periscelis are provided. Notioscelis is suggested to be the sister group of Periscelis sensu stricto based on morphological evidence.
